Certain proportions and relationship have been found to be ideal to the human eye across time and cultures. This website is just one…try doing a websearch to learn more about how these ratios appear in the ideal human facial structure, the ratio of finger joints, the number of seeds in each row of sunflowers…..it goes on! Way cool! Click on his face to get to the good stuff.

GloDerWorks All the good things about this website are due to Gloria Hansen’s marvelous ability with the computer, which is equaled by her marvelous ability as an art quilter, and Derry Thompson--who has probably forgotten more about computers than I could learn in a lifetime. I can highly recommend working with the entire GloDerWorks team (which keeps growing!). They are professional, responsive and creative.
Janome In late 2003, I fell in love with the Janome 6500P sewing machine. I approached Janome, and greatly appreciate their confidence in me. A Fine Line, Techniques and Inspirations for Creating the Quilting Design by Melody Crust and Heather Waldron Tewell.  The single best discussion of quilting design I’ve seen, and the only place I’ve seen a discussion of both technical and aesthetical properties of various threads, including thread weight (thickness).

Heirloom Machine Quilting: A comprehensive Guide to Hand-Quilted Effects Using Your Sewing Machine by Harriet Hargrave.  This book is now in its fourth edition, and for good reason.  It is a classic “how-to” for learning machine quilting.
